Facebook announced the appointment of Sri (Wido) Widowati as Head of Indonesia. She is tapped to lead Facebook’s business efforts in the country, providing counsel and support to local and global brands and agencies across Indonesia.
Wido replaces Anand Tilak, who has moved into the role of global brand partner for Facebook, based in Singapore.
“Southeast Asia is home to come of the largest and fastest growing countries for Facebook and Instagram, and Indonesia is an important country driving this growth,” said Kenneth Bishop, managing director of Facebook, Southeast Asia.
“Wido’s experience in the region and vision for Indonesia will help us strengthen our support for businesses. With Wido’s leadership we’re committed to investing in the resources to help our partners achieve their business goals.”
Wido, who will be based in Jakarta, brings nearly two decades of experience in consumer goods marketing across Asia –most recently with Garnier as vice president and head of international marketing and development for ASEAN. Prior to that she was at Unilever.
“Indonesians on Facebook are a highly engaged, mobile first community who want to connect with each other and businesses in meaningful ways,” said Wido.
“Over the past year, in Indonesia, Facebook has experienced double digit growth while Instagram has grown 100% from the previous year. On Facebook, we are helping 82 million Indonesians, 94 percent through their mobiles, connect with the people and things that matter to them most. I’m excited to return to Indonesia to help our partners tap into new opportunities that will empower them to innovate and grow their businesses,”
Instagram recently announced the Indonesian community has grown 100% in the past year to 22 million.
