Ryan Reynolds Leads Mint Mobile’s Funny 30-Minute ‘MINTfomercial

“We like saving you money, unlike big wireless, which turns you into an angry stock footage person yelling at your phone.”

How about a half hour of no commercial breaks during your commercial? To promote their Premium Wireless $15-a-month plan, Ryan Reynolds and Mint Mobile have released a 30-minute infomercial dubbed “MINTfomercial.” Well, it’s actually only 28:32, so the entertaining creative work flies right by.

“We like saving you money, unlike big wireless, which turns you into an angry stock footage person yelling at your phone,” Reynolds says at the onset.

Along with Reynolds charmingly singing Mint Mobile’s praises against a backdrop of mint green, it also features a lineup of quirky brand moments: an over-the-top ’80s workout led by Tae Bo legend Billy Blanks counting out the savings, a titled segment called “WaSEEMS Too Good to Be True” starring Waseem Iqnaibi, and even a whimsical mini-documentary about foxes interspersed with real customer testimonials.

It’s a mix of humor, nostalgia, and offbeat storytelling – like the lone fisherman ice fishing as the voiceover asks, “What does this ice fisherman and Mint Mobile have in common? There’s no catch.

The campaign, from Maximum Effort, will run across various platforms until the end of the year.

Deadpool gets in on the action as well. “We never phone it in… we commit to the bit,” says the YouTube page.
