Kanokkan Rinnachit – ‘Leadership Isn’t About Power—It’s About Impact’

Though International Women’s Day has passed, we continue to spotlight voices from across the industry, sharing their journeys, personal insights on mentorship, perspectives on the path to equality, and more.

International Women’s Day may be behind us, but celebrating the contributions of women—in our industry and beyond—shouldn’t be confined to just one day.

We’re keeping the conversation going by highlighting industry leaders whose insights, experiences, and leadership continue to make an impact.

Next up, we talk with Kanokkan Rinnachit (Pare), Managing Director at Yell Bangkok.

When asked what drew her to the industry, she pointed to the influence and impact it offered. “I was drawn to advertising because of its ability to shape perspectives, spark change, and influence culture.”

The theme for International Women’s Day 2025 is “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” What does that mean to you professionally and personally?

This theme is not just a statement—it’s a call to action. As a woman leading in the advertising industry, I see it as a responsibility to create opportunities, break barriers, and ensure that every woman and girl has the freedom to dream, lead, and succeed on her own terms.

Professionally, it means fostering a workplace culture where talent, not gender, defines success. Personally, it reminds me why representation matters—because when women rise, entire industries, economies, and communities rise with them.

What first drew you to the industry? Was there a defining moment or experience that shaped your path?

I was drawn to advertising because of its ability to shape perspectives, spark change, and influence culture. The defining moment for me was realizing that creativity isn’t just about making things look good—it’s about making an impact.

Seeing how a single idea could shift mindsets and drive meaningful conversations ignited my passion for this industry. I knew then that I wanted to be part of shaping the future of brands and businesses, not just following trends but setting them.

Women who have redefined leadership, who have fought for a seat at the table, and who have turned challenges into stepping stones. Their journeys remind me that leadership isn’t about power—it’s about impact.

Is there a person or persons who inspired you professionally on your career journey?

Inspiration has come from many places—mentors, industry leaders, and the relentless energy of my team. But most of all, I’m inspired by those who dare to challenge the status quo.

What’s a key lesson you’ve learned in your career that has shaped how you work today?

The most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that leadership is not about having all the answers—it’s about creating the right environment for people to thrive.

True success comes when you empower others, foster a culture of innovation, and challenge limitations.

True success comes when you empower others, foster a culture of innovation, and challenge limitations. The most impactful leaders are those who don’t just lead from the front but uplift those around them.

How has mentorship played a role in your career – both as someone receiving guidance and as a mentor to others? What have been your most meaningful takeaways from these relationships?

Mentorship has been one of the most transformative aspects of my career. As someone who has benefited from guidance and support, I know firsthand the power of having someone believe in your potential. Now, as a mentor, I strive to do the same—helping young talent navigate challenges, think fearlessly, and push boundaries.

The biggest takeaway? A great mentor doesn’t just guide; they inspire confidence and create space for growth.

How can organizations effectively champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), especially in the face of current challenges? What specific strategies have you found effective?

DEI is not just about ticking boxes—it’s about reimagining workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and lead. At Yell, we have embedded DEI into our DNA by ensuring leadership diversity, fostering an inclusive culture, and implementing mentorship programs that support underrepresented talent.

DEI is not just about ticking boxes—it’s about reimagining workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and lead.

One of the most effective strategies is giving real power to diverse voices—not just listening to them, but actively creating space for them to shape the future of our industry.

Is there a project or initiative you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of? What made it meaningful to you?

One of the most defining milestones in my career has been leading Yell’s transformation from an independent agency into Thailand’s first network agency expanding across Asia. What started as a bold vision has become a movement—we have established a presence in Singapore, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, while forging alliances in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Taipei.

A great mentor doesn’t just guide; they inspire confidence and create space for growth.

But this journey is about more than just expansion; it’s about proving that Thai creativity, strategy, and innovation belong on the global stage. It’s about breaking industry norms, elevating our region’s creative power, and inspiring the next generation to think beyond borders.

Seeing our team and clients embrace this ambition—pushing beyond what was once thought possible—is what makes this journey truly meaningful. It’s a testament to the power of vision, resilience, and the belief that we are only limited by the scale of our own aspirations.
