Lexus Sport Concept Debut ‘signals the way forward for Lexus design’

This concept car features a wide, low-profile two-door form that blends dynamic and emotional elements into a vision for a next-generation sports car, says Lexus.

Lexus debuted the Sport Concept before the crowd at The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering, held at The Quail Lodge and Golf Club in Carmel, California.

The concept features a wide, low-profile two-door design that blends dynamic and emotional styling. Lexus, which is Toyota’s luxury vehicle division, described the car as a vision of the brand’s next-generation sports models.

“The progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sportscar signals the way forward for Lexus design,” the brand said in a release.

Finished in two-tone gray over black, the Sport Concept has a low stance, fastback profile, and sculpted bodywork with functional aerodynamic elements in the bumper, front fenders, and behind the doors.

Lexus hasn’t released much in the way of details on the car yet. According to Car and Driver, Lexus is developing another supercar, the LFR, which is expected to feature a twin-turbocharged hybrid V-8 engine. With internal combustion already addressed in that project, it is suspected that the Sport Concept may conceal an all-electric powertrain.
