Kenneth Bishop has been tapped by Facebook as its managing director for Southeast Asia. Bishop has been with Facebook since 2011, most recently as head of marketing for Facebook Asia Pacific. The new position will see him remaing based in Singapore.
Bishop is replacing Myung-Jo Choi, who moves to Facebook’s APAC head of e-commerce after running SE Asia for the past two years.
“Asia Pacific is home to some of the largest and fastest growing markets for Facebook and Southeast Asia is an important region,” said Facebook APAC boss Dan Neary.
“Kenneth’s experience in the region and vision for Southeast Asia will help us strengthen our partnership and support for local businesses in this dynamic mobile-first region.”
“We have new innovations around video, commerce, and messaging that have been tailored to serve the needs of local businesses in these fast-growing emerging markets. Facebook is where people in Southeast Asia primarily connect to businesses on their mobile phones, and with Kenneth’s leadership we’re committed working with our partners to drive this growth,” he said.
Bishop started his career as an analyst with Merrill Lynch and was previously a consultant with Nielsen before joining Facebook.
