Facebook has opened its first office in the Philippines. Former Samsung mobile business unit director, Digs Dimagiba, will be in charge of running the new office.
Dan Neary, Facebook’s vice president for Asia-Pacific, announced the opening in Manila on his Facebook page.
Facebook has set up several new offices in the region to better reach the growing number of companies that want to expand their business presence on Facebook to reach more customers.
Neary said: “2 in 3 Filipinos are connected to a business Page on Facebook, and they’re using the platform to discover new brands and products.”
Facebook has 49 million Filipino users –which amounts to 91% of the connected population, Neary said.
Smartphone penetration hovers at about the 40% mark in the emerging market.
