RePizza: Taking Unused Ingredients in Xintiandi Shanghai and Making Pizzas

As hard as it might be to digest (sorry), restaurants dispose of 84% of unused ingredients that ends up as food waste. In a collaborative effort with restaurants in Xintiandi Shanghai, an affluent dining and entertainment district, unused ingredients are being used to create pizza –known as “RePizzas.

“Together, we gathered their unused ingredients and created over 200 types of RePizzas. Every Repizza was different from the other. Every slice was a new taste. Every night offered different flavors,” said Detnstu in a statement.

The project reused 60 kgs of unused ingredients and reduced food waste from 84% to 43%.
