Wayne’s World Triumphantly Returns to Not So Shamelessly Plug Uber Eats and Eating Local

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey are still in the basement partying on. The two former SNL and then big screen stars reprised their roles as Waye and Garth for Uber Eats’ first-ever Super Bowl spot.

The “Shameless Manipulation” campaign which was conceived by Special Group promotes eating local. As the two 80’s stars look into the camera, they ask their audience to support neighborhood restaurants.

Yet they promise they won’t manipulate us to do so.

What follows is a minute of cute babies, flashing text, TikToK and Cardi B who channels her inner “superliminal” Simpsons Navy recruitment campaign and exclaims, “Yeah eat local!”

The Super Bowl ad comes on the heels of a great stretch of work for Uber Eats, including a spot featuring Mark Hammill and Patrick Stewart ready to go to blows.

Cardi B spoke with the Hollywood Reporter, saying “Y’all know I love to eat, and right now we have got to be supporting our local restaurants — like the Griddle Cafe in L.A. So many spots are struggling right now, and it’s up to us to eat local! That’s why I teamed up with Uber Eats and my boys Wayne and Garth to help.”

As restaurants across the world continue to suffer the consequences of the pandemic it’s nice to see another big name getting in on the goodwill.
