High-profile marketer Marc Mathieu, who joined the Unilever team in 2011, has left his #2 position at the company to join tech giant Samsung.
Mathieu, known for spreading his “more magic, less logic” philosophy at Unilever, is expected to replace Todd Pendleton, CMO of Samsung’s US mobile division.
Mathieu, a popular figure on the conference-speaker circuit, is also well-known for being a big supporter of startups –he spearheaded Unilever’s incubation of new technologies during his time there.
Advertising Age reported back in March that Samsung was in talks with Mathieu about an unspecified position. Now confirmed Mathieu becomes one of the latest in a series of outside hires at Samsung as it faces an increasingly tough battle with Apple and others competitors in the mobile market.
