Elisa Janiec has been appointed as General Manager of Uber Eats for Hong Kong, tasked with strengthening partnerships with restaurants and delivery-partners on the platform and overseeing the next phase of the company’s growth.
Janiec joined Uber in 2017 as Uber Eats’ Senior Operations manager in Brisbane, Australia, before going on to lead Uber Eats across Queensland & Northern Territory.
In 2019, she took over as Head of New Zealand and Regional Australia, managing a portfolio of 30+ cities. She also spearheaded key initiatives in the region, including launching Uber Eats in 15+ cities, and piloting virtual restaurants and new use cases for pick-up services.
“I’m excited to welcome Elisa to the Uber Eats business in Hong Kong,” said Jodie Auster, Regional General Manager For Uber Eats in APAC.
“Her experience in expanding the Australia and New Zealand footprint, from Darwin to Launceston and everywhere in between, and success in building the Uber Eats business from the ground up is exactly what we need in Hong Kong. Elisa’s passion for building thriving teams will be of true value as we continue to grow in Hong Kong.”
Prior to Uber, Janiec was a lawyer, before moving into consulting at PwC, and at boutique firm, Era Innovation. She also spent time as a business and strategy analyst in the Australian Government. Janiec holds an MBA from the University of Queensland and graduated with First Class Honors in Bachelor of Law at Bond University.
“I am thrilled to be joining the super talented team in Hong Kong at such a thriving time for food delivery in the city,” said Janiec.
“The team have done a terrific job, especially over the last 10 months, in making sure we are a reliable earning platform for delivery-partners and restaurant-partners, and expanding every day food delivery option for customers across the city. I’m looking forward to getting set up in Hong Kong and experiencing its food delights. Street food or Michelin-starred, via the app or in the restaurant, I can’t wait.”
