There’s no question that people love watching cats on the internet –Wikipedia has a whole page examining the phenomenon. Since feline favs make up some of the most viewed content on the web, why not work them into your violent gaming brand? Yah.
Game maker Ubisoft has tapped Die Hard director, John McTiernan, who hasn’t directed a film since 2003, to create a live action trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. The spot, called “The Red Dot”, features a cat chasing an assassin’s laser targeting beam.
When game ads like Battlefield –the most viewed trailer in YouTube history- snatches more than 1 million likes just days after its release, the competition to be the next big viral game ad heats up.
Regardless of the reaction to the ad, it’s great to have John McTiernan making something.
