TBWA HAKUHODO Marks 20 Years with ‘Three Disruptions’ Vision

The vision is underpinned by an internal culture: “Why join the navy when you can be a pirate?”

Creative agency TBWA\HAKUHODO Inc. will celebrate its 20th anniversary on August 3, 2026, marking two decades since the agency’s founding. To commemorate the milestone, the agency unveiled “Three Disruptions,” a strategic initiative described as guiding its next decade of growth under the slogan “Disruption for Meaningful Change.”

The agency was established in 2006 as a joint venture between TBWA\Worldwide and Hakuhodo. According to the release, the agency built its reputation by combining TBWA’s proprietary Disruption methodology with Hakuhodo’s understanding of human behavior, referred to as sei-katsu-sha Insight.

“We have no intention of letting this 20-year milestone end in mere celebration,” said Wataru Uchida, Representative Director, President and CEO of TBWA\HAKUHODO.

“Rather than resting on past accomplishments, we want to remain challengers who are unafraid of failure. Toward further disruption and creation, these ‘Three Disruptions’ define our path forward.”
