Consumer Reports has long held influential sway with its assessments and is considered among the most objective and highly trusted when it comes to product reviews of consumer products.
Which makes it all the more meaningful for Samsung that they are throwing some serious praise at the new Galaxy S7.
“These new models aren’t just Samsung’s best smartphones, but, perhaps, the best smartphones. And they now sit atop our Ratings,” writes Consumer Reports’ Mike Gikas.
You read that right: Consumer Reports has pretty much made the Galaxy S7 the benchmark not only for Android competitors but for Apple as well.
Oh, and it has the added bonus of twice the battery life of the iPhone and works after being submerged for 30 minutes in 5 feet of water.
“Battery life, the camera, water resistance, all of these things helped propel the S7s to the top of our ratings and ahead of iPhones,” said Consumer Report’s Gikas.
The Phonearena, another popular review site, agrees with Consumer Reports’ assessment.
“We can certainly understand why Consumer Reports has drawn such conclusions with the Galaxy S7. In our own review we couldn’t really find a fault, which goes to show that even in a market abundant with feature-rich devices, those particularly well-crafted can stand out from the crowd.
Consumer Reports will be testing the new Apple iPhone as soon as it goes on sale next week. We’ll have to wait and see how that goes, but champagne corks are likely popping at Samsung offices around the globe.
