    Ronny Chieng Stars in Funny ‘Reality’ Show as Part of Visa Branded Content Campaign

    Visa has partnered with Colenso BBDO & Clemenger BBDO Sydney to launch “Urban Survivalist” – a funny branded content series starring Ronny Chieng.

    Chieng is a Chinese-Malaysian-Australian comedian and actor who is appeared in the hit movie Crazy Rich Asians and is a regular on The Daily Show.

    The series is fashioned after reality TV, with a humorously scripted scenario that puts a celebrity contestant, in a foreign city for 24 hours to see how they survive with no money. What the producers don’t realize (wink wink) is that Chieng is carrying his mobile phone – which, of course, has Visa mobile pay.

    “The purpose of this campaign is to build awareness about the convenience, acceptance and security of Visa mobile payments,” said Jac Phillips, Visa Head of Marketing for Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific. “By entertaining our audience at the same time as educating them on the benefits of paying with Visa on your mobile phone, we believe we’ll get the cut through we need.

    ”Ronny worked closely on the scripts with our creative team, which included Ronny Chieng: International Student collaborator, Declan Fay. We are thrilled with the results.”

    Urban Survivalist will be seen in cinema, TV and premieres exclusively on the internet.
