Campaign Highlights Rise in Domestic Violence During Lockdown in Indonesia

While lockdown policies have been rolled out around the world to keep people safe from the COVID-19 pandemic, being home is often not the safest place to be for many women, as the confinement exposes them to domestic violence. Projections released late last month by the UN predict at least 15 million more cases of domestic violence around the world this year as a result of pandemic restrictions.

Iris Indonesia has creatied a new print campaign for LBH APIK Indonesia illustrating the dangers that staying at home can cause for women in abusive relationships.

With unmistakable reference to the monumental “The Gates of Hell” sculptural group work by French artist Auguste Rodin, the ad shows a front door of a house that most people would view as a safe haven place to be during the Covid-19 crisis. Sadly, as the campaign seeks to demonstrate, that is not always the case.
