Elephant Bar at Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh has been named one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Top Global Hotel Bars,” placing among 10 venues selected worldwide in the publication’s ranking.
The bar, which has operated for more than nine decades, features wood paneling, ceiling frescoes, historic photographs, wicker chairs, and leather sofas set beneath French windows and arched colonnades.
Past visitors have included Charlie Chaplin, Charles de Gaulle, and Jacqueline Kennedy, who ordered the first “Femme Fatale” cocktail during her 1967 visit to Phnom Penh. The drink remains on the menu.
The bar carries more than 200 gin labels, among them the Sipsmith Raffles 1915 and the property’s own Elephant Bar Gin. An “Elephant Bar Gin Experience” offering two hours of unlimited gin cocktails and a gin tasting is available to guests.
