Pinterest has announced the official opening of an office in Singapore as part of the platform’s efforts to expand its reach in the Asia Pacific.
This marks the US-based company’s second in the region after opening an office in Tokyo office in 2013, is set to service Southeast Asia and India.
According to Pinterest, the APAC region rising rapidly for them, saying in a release that “Asia-Pacific is one of our fastest growing regions with millions of people currently using the platform each month, a number that has increased by more than 50% over the past year,” adding that users in the region are “saving more than seven million ideas on Pinterest each day.”
The Singapore office will be lead by Ayumi Nakajima as country manager for South East Asia and India. Nakajima has been with Pinterest for four years, working in Tokyo and London before Singapore. She has previosly held positions at Facebook and Nielsen.
“There is a great opportunity for brands, publishers and creators on Pinterest to connect with engaged users when they are considering what to do or buy next,” Nakajima. “With a team based in Singapore, we’ll be able to offer an even more relevant experience in one of our fastest growing regions.”
Pinterest said that the Singapore team has established partnerships with Vogue India and Miss Malini in India and MasakTV, Tastemade, and Femina Magazine in Indonesia.
