Stanley Tucci has partnered with Apple Pay on a new holiday campaign that follows him reconnecting with his Italian roots and love of food to explore whether he can “bring people together with pasta and Apple Pay.”
The campaign centers on Tucci shopping for, cooking, and dining with a group of Italian grandmothers—referred to as nonnas—many of whom live alone. Throughout the journey, Tucci uses Apple Pay purchase the ingredients needed to prepare the shared meal.
The first film in the series debuted this week as a collaborative post on Instagram and TikTok via Tucci’s and Apple Pay’s official accounts. Additional content is scheduled to roll out across Instagram, TikTok, Snap, YouTube, and Facebook.
Directed by two-time Emmy Award winner Floyd Russ, the mostly improvised film captures Tucci shopping in a small Italian town and navigating unexpected locations to gather all the required items. The ad culminates with Tucci cooking for a table full of guests and facing the ultimate test: impressing the discerning palates of Italian nonnas.
