Seven Questions

How did you get your first break in the industry?

I got my first break in the E-commerce industry through TCS-Ecom led marketplace; (Yayvo.com). Since, I had the privilege to be a part of their start-up team, the learning and field exposure was massive.

What is your personal mantra?

My personal mantra is to not just work hard but, smart.

From what person, place, or thing have you drawn your greatest creative inspiration?

My creative inspiration, rather mentor, has been my Mother. Growing up, I always observed her multitasking vigorously. She would always remain focused, calm and composed during any pressure. Most importantly, apart from constant support and encouragement, her quality to have faith, such that she instilled in me a sense of confidence that allowed me to believe in myself and excel.

What do you love about the job?

Numbers, innovation and loads of pressure on YOY growth. Since, E-commerce is an ever-evolving industry, the learning that comes with rapid technological advancement and the constant need to adapt to the changes in order to succeed in terms of ascending numbers, while, proficiently catering to the consumer demand, makes my job super exciting.


 

What about your job are you not so crazy about?

The fact that the digital business is still in its emergent phase in Pakistan, the operational issues can at times become frustrating. However, the industry is rapidly developing and the optimism for better solutions is still intact.

What is some work you’ve done that you’re most proud of?

I believe, from working at a start-up marketplace on a particular category to switching to the brand side and structuring and developing the operational procedures for the E-business; I have experienced the flavor from each side of the table. I take immense pride in successfully setting up from scratch, the E-business from operational as well as, technological aspect for Bonanza|Satrangi.

If you had to choose another career what would it be?

Broadcast journalism.
