OMD has appointed Maggie Mu as CEO and Laura Liang as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in China as Omnicom Media strengthens its leadership team in the market.
As CEO, Maggie Mu will oversee OMD China’s strategic direction, business operations, and organizational development. She will focus on cross-disciplinary collaboration and work with teams across strategy, media, technology, and business functions, while supporting the development of AI-enabled growth capabilities for clients.
Before joining OMD, Mu held leadership roles at Amazon focused on marketing innovation, customer lifecycle growth, and the automation of operating models, including AI adoption across marketing functions. She also previously held management positions at Uber, JCDecaux, and Ogilvy.
As COO, Liang will oversee operations, cross-functional collaboration, and client service across OMD China.
Liang joined Omnicom Media China in March, where she has worked on client leadership, talent development, and collaboration across teams. Her previous leadership roles include positions at DDB Group China, McCann Worldgroup, Ogilvy APAC, TBWA, BBH, and Kantar, as well as senior roles in the technology and content intelligence sectors.
The appointments are effective immediately, with both executives reporting to Joey Zhao, CEO, Omnicom Media China.
“Growth is increasingly shaped by a combination of market complexity, technological change and shifting consumer behaviour, which requires a different kind of leadership and organisation,” said Joey Zhao.
“The appointments of Maggie and Laura reflect how we are preparing OMD China for that future.”
“Maggie brings deep experience across brands, platforms and business growth, while Laura has a strong track record in operational leadership and organisational development,” he added.
“Together, they bring complementary strengths that will further enhance OMD’s capabilities. China remains one of the most important markets for Omnicom Media globally, and I am confident that Maggie and Laura’s leadership will reinforce OMD China’s reputation as a trusted growth partner for our clients.”
“The future of our industry will be shaped by leaders who can successfully connect creativity, technology, data and commercial outcomes,” said Charlotte Lee, President, OMD APAC.
“Their experience across brands, platforms, and media ecosystems, together with their passion for innovation and transformation, makes them exceptionally well-positioned to lead OMD China into its next chapter. As clients increasingly seek partners who can unlock growth in the AI era, Maggie and Laura will play a pivotal role in strengthening OMD’s ability to deliver connected, future-ready solutions that will help our clients navigate change, drive business opportunities, and ultimately create what’s next for them.”
