Ogilvy has appointed Sieg Penaverde as Chief Executive Officer of the Group in Indonesia, succeeding B. Ramanathan who will be taking on a regional role.
Penaverde takes over an agency with nearly 300 staff that celebrates its 50th anniversary in Indonesia this year.
Having helmed leadership positions in the Philippines, Mexico, Japan and Indonesia, Penaverde brings invaluable global, regional and local insights and wealth of experience in unearthing creative solutions through data and technology fueled with powerful cultural truths.
“During his tenure with the Ogilvy Group in Indonesia – first as head of Bates and more recently with the additional responsibilities across the whole group as Group COO – Sieg has proven to be a trusted and worthy leader, and a natural successor as head of the Group,” said Kent Wertime, CO-CEO of Ogilvy Asia.
Penaverde added: “Beyond the amazing talent and expertise across the Ogilvy family, it is the power of borderless creativity and the resilience of our people through the challenges of the pandemic that has inspired us all. We did not allow anything to get in the way of delivering impactful creative work. This strength in numbers gives us the confidence to deliver against the mandate of uncovering growth opportunities for our clients.” Penaverde continued to say: “We also embrace a shared goal doing our part to ensure that we come out of this pandemic with a better normal, not just a new one.”
“I am glad to see Ram take on a bigger role for the Asia region. He has been an amazing leader for us in Indonesia,” Sieg said about Ram.
Ramanathan said: “I have never been more proud of this team who have weathered through every curve and bump of the Covid-19 pandemic, pulling hard alongside one another and banding together as one phenomenal team. We thrived not just survived with Team Ogilvy coming together to not just transform in keeping with the business needs but to be ahead of the curve. In doing so, delivering what they have done best – partnered with clients and created impact for their business.
Ram added: “I believe our people and our clients in Indonesia will continue to thrive under Sieg’s leadership. I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in my new regional role.”
