Newborn Blanket Carries a Message About Hearing Rights in Thailand

Created by CJ WORX with the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand, the blanket uses illustrations and a QR code to guide parents through hearing screening, treatment, and support available from birth.

The Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand partnered with CJ WORX to launch The Blankets of Rights, a newborn blanket designed to raise awareness of hearing rights and the support available for children born with hearing loss in Thailand.

The Blanket of Rights

According to the release, three out of every 1,000 babies in Thailand are born with hearing loss. It states that children have the best chance to develop hearing, speech, and language if they receive cochlear implant surgery before the age of three, but many do not receive treatment in time.

Hearing screening, diagnosis, cochlear implant surgery, and rehabilitation are available free of charge from birth, but many families are unaware these services are available.

The Blankets of Rights incorporates illustrations designed to communicate each stage of a child’s hearing journey. It also includes a QR code linking parents to the Cochlear Implant Association of Thailand, where they can access information about hearing rights, guidance, and available support.

The initiative aims to help parents understand their children’s hearing rights earlier so they can seek treatment and support as soon as possible.
