Oppo has teamed up with National Geographic for the “Uncover Antarctica” global campaign which saw the National Geographic Creative Works team partner with Australian-based filmmaker, photographer and director Michaela Skovranova and cinematographer/director Dave May on a trip to Antarctica to document Skovranova’s experience capturing imagery on the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
The beautifully filmed campaign features a 4-minute short documentary film debuted on National Geographic YouTube to its 14 million subscribers while a series of Instagram videos additionally were rolled out as part of the campaign.
National Geographic describes it as: “National Geographic photographer Michaela Skovranova uncovers the beauty of Antarctica and inspires the everyday photographer through the lens of her smartphone.”
“It was an amazing experience to shoot in Antarctica and also to work with a brand like Oppo who were invested in creating partner content that audiences would recognize as authentic,” said May.
“Michaela has an incredible eye and so much passion for what she does so it’s been great seeing people respond to her work. Also, it turns out we threaded the needle with our late February departure and so feel incredibly grateful to have been able to make it all happen.”
Writing on their site, National Geographic noted: “A particular bonus on the journey down to the White Continent was Skovranova had an opportunity to road-test the OPPO Find X2 Pro in some pretty extreme conditions.”
