Mars Blackmon Returns in Nike’s 50th Anniversary Film Featuring Over 40 Athletes

The film stars and is directed by Spike Lee and features more than 40 legendary and contemporary Nike athletes.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Nike has released a short film directed by and starring Spike Lee who revives his Mars Blackmon character from the 1986 film “She’s Gotta Have It” as well as Mars appearing alongside Michael Jordon in a wildly popular Nike campaign spot.

“Seen It All” is a nice little piece of nostalgia for American sports fans in the form of a nearly 5-minute director’s cut film that features more than 40 legendary and contemporary Nike athletes, including Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Mia Hamm, and Megan Rapinoe.

The film begins with Mars passionately commenting on the epic sports moments and iconic athletes of the past 50 years, before turning to a young, confident protagonist named Zimmie who “conveys the raw optimism, pure energy, and unlimited potential that can be found in the next 50 years of sport,” says Nike.

The sports brand said in a statement: “Over the past 50 years, Nike has been a champion for athletes and sport and will remain true to that. Nike’s 50th anniversary isn’t about looking back — it’s about looking to the past for inspiration as the brand expands sport for a new generation.”
