For you American or Mexico-based beverage companies looking to market your drinkables in South Korea, here’s some informal research you can refer to on how best to approach the Korean female palate.
Digitalsoju TV brought together a group of women from Seoul and lined up an informal taste test of various types of popular American and Mexican sodas, including Jarritos, Squirt, Dr. Pepper, Barq’s Root Beer, and more.
Most interesting was the reaction to Barq’s Root Beer — where the panel felt it tasted like medicine and would likely do well in the Korean market “if they sold it in a pharmacy.”
Digitalsoju TV has done several of these informal tests including Korean Girls Try American BBQ.

If you’re a marketer out there hoping for some insight into what Korean men think, you’re going to have to pony up on that survey on your own.
