Facebook has today appointed Kihyun Jung as its new lead in Korea as CEO. Jung joins Facebook from Line, the Japanese mobile messenger subsidiary under Naver, where he was the Chief Business Officer.
Prior to that, Jung was Chief Product Officer at SK Planet, the e-commerce subsidiary of SK Group and before that he worked at Google as Head of International Product Management.
Jung is tasked with overseeing operations of Facebook Korea, which includes helping brands maximize their use of social media giant to grow and expand in both the local and global markets.
Jung replaces Cho Yong-bum, Facebook Korea’s first country director who was last month promoted to regional director of the Southeast and South Asia.
Facebook APAC VP Dan Neary was quoted in the Korean media praising the departing Cho for charting steady growth for Facebook Korea, adding that he is “sincerely pleased” with Jung taking the helm.
