KFC Uses K-Pop Style Girl Group to Promote Bulgogi Chicken in Vietnam via JWT

KFC in Vietnam has launched a new spot as part of the brand’s World Taste Tour. Created by JWT Vietnam, the campaign previously featured New York, and this quarter, it’s South Korea, with a Bulgogi style chicken –which is in itself interesting since bulgogi is a beef dish.

The ad rides on the wave of Korean culture, or hallyu, which has had a big impact on Vietnamese culture and lifestyle, especially among the youth, over the last few years. The spot even has the couple speaking in Korea after eating the chicken


“K-Pop is loved throughout Vietnam. Leveraging its mass appeal to deliver an innovative new product message was a natural creative solution,” said Steve Clay, Executive Creative Director at J. Walter Thompson Vietnam.
