KFC, the American fast food chicken giant has launched a campaign in India that gives away a free built-in power bank to its customers for every order of burgers and fried chicken.
So, quite literally, the Colonel is charging more.
The “Watt-A-Box,” as it has so been dubbed, is a limited-edition phone charging-meal package giveaway just in Delhi and Mumbai KFC locations.
I am puzzled that someone didn’t think to tagline the promotion: “We’re Charging More”
Customers receive the special charging boxes via an online contest, while some are gifted as an add-on to their ordered meals at select branches.
“Each one of us spends a considerable amount of time on smartphones daily. And the phone battery going dead is almost like a nightmare! No longer is that the case, with the Watt-a-Box around,” said Lluis Ruiz Ribot, chief marketing officer at the fast-food chain’s India unit.
As the world’s second-largest smartphone market boasting 220 million users, India is a prime demographic for digital tie-in campaigns. According to survey last year 2015, Indians spend an average of 169 minutes a day on their smartphones.
