Earlier this year, after spending two-and-a-half decades with Y&R, Sanjay Bhasin pulled up his firmly placed roots and joined the Dentsu Aegis Network in the newly-created role of CEO for Indochina, tasked with driving growth in the Southeast Asian market.
Speaking at the time of Bhasin’s hire, Dick Van Motman, Global President at Dentsu Brand Agencies, highlighted the benefits of having Bhasin’s wide-ranging experience as part of the Dentsu offering.
“Sanjay brings a great breadth of experience, a client-centric/solution-based approach and a deep appreciation for what creates consumer engagement in this day and age,” said van Motman. “Next to this having worked across cultures, both regionally and globally, he is a true embodiment of the power of diversity and convergence.”
Branding in Asia recently sat down with Sanjay Bhasin at the Dentsu offices in Ho Chi Minh to talk about his time at Y&R, his move to the new network, his take on trends in the region, and more.
When asked about characteristics of brands in Southeast Asia, Bhasin spoke to the evolving climate where brands are finding their voice.
“Every client that I talk to here is trying to learn and trying to understand how do you build that brand, how do you build that brand that resonates with a very dynamic market in a very fragmented media environment,” said Bhasin.
