Earlier this year, London designer Keiichi Matsuda released a short movie depicting a future world where the merging of digital media and the physical world create a “hyper reality”.
The six-minute video takes us through Matsuda’s conceptual vision of a future where augmented reality is the reality, everything is interactive and consumerism has evolved to its full potential.

The film’s protagonists is 42-year-old Juliana Restrepo – an average woman in the modern world who has become disillusioned with her life in Colombia.
As she moves through the city, her view on life (literally) is filled with games, internet services, and various other assistance functions, alongside promotional materials that pop-up throughout.
“Our physical and virtual realities are becoming increasingly intertwined. Technologies such as VR, augmented reality, wearables, and the internet of things are pointing to a world where technology will envelop every aspect of our lives,” said in a release.
“It will be the glue between every interaction and experience, offering amazing possibilities, while also controlling the way we understand the world. Hyper-Reality attempts to explore this exciting but dangerous trajectory.”
The film was crowdfunded, and shot in Medellín, Colombia.
