The Gerety Awards executive jury session in Hong Kong has officially concluded, bringing together leading creative voices from across the industry to review and discuss some of the strongest campaigns entered into the 2026 competition.
Held as part of Gerety’s global judging process, the in-person executive jury sessions play a key role in shaping the shortlist. This year, more than 260 judges from over 50 countries are participating across 15 jury locations worldwide, reflecting the Gerety Awards’ unique perspective and commitment to evaluating work through a powerful lens.
The Gerety Awards executive jury in Hong Kong was led by Kitty Lun, Head of Meta Creative Shop, META, alongside a jury of creative leaders from across the region.
“Judging Gerety live is a rare and unique experience. First of all, having 15 female creative and industry leaders in a room to discuss creativity is a first in Hong Kong. Surprising, perspectives are rather diverse. No one holds back their opinion. We did not necessarily agree with what others say, but the conversation was not confrontational, which might happen when we have a mixed gender jury. Creatives were listening to business leaders, not necessarily agreeing to everything but giving room for everyone to voice their thoughts.
Discussion themes centre around the categories we judged. All felt humour is important. However, humour is the most difficult to be done right. Too much, it’s contrived. Too subtle, it’s completely missed. The good ones won the hearts and minds of the jury unanimously. Regarding products and packaging, there are disucssions about the discovery of brilliant ideas that are good to mankind but execution could be better. The craft category triggered a lot of discussion beyond judging. Today, young people tend to ship content quickly with little regard to craft. It is delightful to see the attention and care and time spent on superb crafting. But it is rare. It will be a pity to see craft being side-lined by the new generation of creatives. “How to bring craft back” should be an urgent industry heritage presevation.
“All ladies are busy people and it’s unanimous that we enjoyed the opportunity to take a few hours away from our daily routine and engage in high quality discussions and network with old and new industry friends. Thank you Gerety”, said Kitty.
The Gerety Awards shortlist will be announced on June 16, followed by a series of live Jury Insights Panels featuring members of the executive juries discussing standout trends, themes emerging from the judging rooms, and what defines creative excellence in 2026.
The highest-scoring shortlisted campaigns will also be featured in the Gerety Shortlist Reel, a curated showcase shared with agencies, production companies, brands, and creative leaders around the world during shortlist week.
To celebrate the announcement of the shortlist, Gerety Awards will once again host its VIP BBQ gathering during Cannes, bringing together judges, entrants, partners, and friends of the awards for an evening celebrating the work shaping the industry this year.
The final winners will be selected by the Gerety Grand Jury following the executive jury sessions.
