Google has released its Year in Search video for 2025, highlighting what Americans were searching for throughout the year. The nearly four-minute film also offers a broader look at global cultural moments that shaped curiosity around the world.
With expanded AI capabilities in Search, Google said that people began phrasing queries more conversationally, similar to how they’d speak with a friend. One noticeable shift was the rise of “What’s the deal with…” questions, including the popular “What’s the deal with 6-7?”
The nearly four-minute film from Google Brand Studio moves through a wide range of moments in sports, pop culture, politics, and religion that surprised audiences around the world.
People were also looking for deeper context, not just quick facts, said Google. Searches beginning with “Tell me about…” climbed seventy percent year over year, and “How do I…” queries reached an all-time high, up twenty-five percent. Among them was the timely question “How do I know if my Labubu is real?” which surged to the top.
