Google Celebrates its 25th Birthday

Today is Google’s Birthday. The company’s now 25-year-old journey got started when doctoral students Sergey Brin and Larry Page met at Stanford University in the computer science program in the late 1990s.

Having discovered their shared vision of creating greater accessibility to the World Wide Web, they created a prototype for a better search engine working from their dorm rooms. They later relocated to Google’s first office – a rented garage. Google Inc. was later officially founded on September 27, 1998.

So Happy Birthday Google.


 

Things have changed considerably since the days of working from a garage in Silicon Valley – today the company has offices and data centers on six continents, in over 200 cities.

“Today’s Doodle celebrates Google’s 25th year,” the company wrote in its blog.

“And while here at Google we’re oriented towards the future, birthdays can also be a time to reflect. Let’s take a walk down memory lane to learn how we were born 25 years ago.
