Friday Ad5: Nudgy the Party Saver, Wilson’s Happily Ever After, and Google Gets Dad Dancing

Each week, we spotlight five ads that stood out. Some win us over with bold ideas, others with standout craft, powerful messaging, or sheer originality—and a few we just can’t explain. We just like them.

We took the last few weeks off, using our Friday afternoons to work on the site redesign, but we’re glad to be back. (And hope you like the new design!)

This week’s picks include a mischievous flute-player who keeps the night going, the surprise return of a Hollywood icon, making a point that the point is the point, a father mastering K-pop with a little help from Google, and a stark warning about the plastic waste crisis.

‘Yes, I DiDi’ – A Wild Ride With a Mysterious Flute Player

DiDi has launched a new brand platform, ‘Yes, I DiDi,’ in Australia and New Zealand to encourage more social outings, with the ride-hailing service helping facilitate them. Created by Sunday Gravy in collaboration with Hooves and Electric Sheep, the campaign centers around Nudgy—a mischievous, flute-playing character who appears just as people are about to end their night out. Nudgy persuades them to keep the party going, with DiDi rides as the enabler.

Wilson Finds a New Life in Fiji

It turns out Wilson, the world-famous volleyball from *Cast Away*, didn’t vanish after all—he just found a better life in Fiji. A new tribute film from Tourism Fiji and Special PR New Zealand imagines the long-awaited return of one of Hollywood’s most iconic inanimate characters. In the film, Wilson is seen thriving on a tropical beach, far from the stormy sea where we last saw him.

The Point is the Point – Central The 1 and Wolf BKK’s Funny New Campaign

According to a new campaign in Thailand, shopaholics always find a reason to buy something new. Even as the economy tightens, shoppers justify their choices in ways that may seem illogical to others. So it goes in Central The 1’s campaign for Dynamic Points—a way to earn rewards that goes beyond simply offering 4X points.

The launch film, directed by Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, centers on a humorous moment between two sisters. The older sister arrives home with a pile of shopping bags and dons a bold bomber jacket, leather gloves, and oversized sunglasses—all in the middle of the Thai summer—with an excuse that’s anything but reasonable.

Dad Nails K-pop in ‘Just Ask Google’

Google has launched a new campaign in Australia, created with 72andSunny, to show how Search tools help Aussies connect with loved ones. One spot features a dad mastering K-pop choreography to surprise his daughter, bridging a generational gap with the help of simple searches like “K-pop moves for beginners.”

‘Animal Trash Fashion’ from WWF-Korea

WWF-Korea has launched a stark OOH campaign titled *Animal Trash Fashion*, using fashion film-style visuals to raise awareness of plastic pollution’s impact on wildlife. The billboard video, displayed in Seoul, features sea creatures entangled in litter, turning trash into disturbing fashion accessories that endanger animals’ lives.
