The Epica Awards has announced the addition of Gender Equity category to its range of Public Interest categories for the 2019 edition.
The category creates a dedicated space for campaigns in any medium that focus on women’s rights, inclusion and empowerment, LTGBQIA+ rights and positive actions concerning gender identity.
“Previously this type of campaign fell within our Social category, but in the wake of the #MeToo movement and amid concerns about approaches to gender equity and identity around the world, I felt it was necessary to specifically highlight these issues,” said Epica’s communications officer Katia Chelpanova.
Gender Equity is the second new category to be introduced for this season’s Epica Awards, after Creative Use of Data, was announced earlier in the year.
The Epica Awards are currently open for entries until November 1, with an “early bird” discount until August 31.
