Dentsu International Appoints Robert Gilby CEO for the Asia-Pacific

Dentsu International has appointed Robert Gilby as its new CEO for the Asia-Pacific. Gilby, who joins Dentsu from his position as President, APAC at Nielsen will lead Dentsu’s Asia-Pacific operations and its 11,600 staff across 18 markets starting September 5.

He will be based in Singapore reporting to Wendy Clark, Global CEO, Dentsu International, and joins the Dentsu International Executive team.

Gilby brings more than three decades of experience in the Media and Entertainment industry and has worked in Asia Pacific for over 25 years. Over the course of his career he has worked with WarnerMedia and The Walt Disney Company, with extensive experience in markets including Australia, China, India, Southeast Asia and Singapore.

 
 

Prior to Nielsen, he was CEO & Founder, Blue Hat Ventures, an investment and advisory firm focused on identifying and commercializing high-growth businesses in the Digital Media sector in the Asia Pacific. He has additionally held non-executive board and advisory roles at the Ministry of Communications & Information, the InfoComm Media Development Authority and the Singapore Media Festival.

The role of the APAC CEO was previously held by Ashish Bhasin who departed the agency in November last year, after 13 years with the group. Bhasin was named APAC CEO in 2019.

Gilby’s appointment follows the global launch of DENTSU CREATIVE, with dentsu awarded Asia Pacific Regional Network of the Year and DENTSU CREATIVE India named Global Agency of the Year at Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
