Ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi in China China put a major dent in their to-do list by bringing in 48 people in on one hiring spree –effectively creating a new e-commerce offering. The staff are joining from Bysoft China, an e-commerce service provider, in the biggest mass hire Saatchi’s has made in China to date.
The agency clarified that the deal is not an acquisition, rather the recruitment of a number of Bysoft’s e-commerce employees. The new people will be based in Saatchi’s Shanghai offices.
Bysoft’s bosses Cyril Drouin and Christine Wang are also joining Saatchi’s as chief e-commerce officer and GM of e-commerce, respectively. They will report to Saatchi & Saatchi’s Greater China’s head Michael Lee.
Lee said that the new hires raise the ratio of employees with digital capabilities to 55 per cent of the agency.
“The whole team represents the absolute top level of digital and e-commerce talent in the China market,” said Lee. “They will undoubtedly help us provide our clients with even better and more professional digital and e-commerce services, while also enabling us to greatly expand our digital business.”
“It is our great pleasure to join Saatchi & Saatchi, which I believe is the hottest creative agency in the country and which serves a truly impressive portfolio of clients,” said Drouin. “We are confident that our contribution of digital and e-commerce expertise will lead to more wins for the agency in a market that increasingly demands excellence in the online and digital spheres.”
