Australian Lamb has launched a funny new campaign taking a humorously welcoming approach following the recent news of deported tennis star Novak Djokovic.

The timely campaign featured a billboard not far from Melbourne Park where the Australian Open is being played without the Serbian-born world No. 1 Djokovic after the country revoked the unvaccinated athlete’s visa –which made international headlines.

The billboards feature tongue-in-cheek slogans: “Everyone’s welcome at our BBQ. Not Djoking” and “Australian Lamb. More tender than border control”.

The campaign follows the brand’s recent annual summer campaign that humorously celebrates “fortress Australia” reuniting with the rest of the world after years of isolation.

“Building on the ‘Share the Lamb’ brand platform, the 6-week integrated campaign reflects upon how Australia has become isolated from the rest of the world due to strict international border closures during the pandemic,” says the Meat and Livestock Australia website.
