R.I.P Leon. No, Wait – Apple’s Undo Send Comes in Handy After the Dead Lizard Comes Back to Life

The whimsical ‘R.I.P. Leon,’ spot opens with poor Leon laying on his back – gone to the lizard afterlife.

Apple and its creative partner TBWA\Media Arts Lab are never short on clever ideas, producing a series of memorable ad films over the years. This time they have created something completely unexpected using a dead lizard named Leon to pitch the recently added Undo Send feature in Messages.

The whimsical ‘R.I.P. Leon,’ spot opens with poor Leon laying on his back – gone to the lizard afterlife.

His sad lizard-sitter has just messaged presumably the owner saying “I messed up… Leon is dead.” While we don’t know what he did to cause Leon’s demise, we do know Leon comes back to life and that he hits “undo send” to recall the sad message.

Check it out.

On the same day Apple launched another ad on their YouTube channel featuring the iPhone 14’s “Action mode”.  This one takes the more inspirational storytelling approach one would expect from a smartphone feature pitch.

BTW: We recently updated this article. We originally thought the tragic figure bemoaning Leon’s apparent demise was the owner. But no, he is just the lizard sitter minding Leon for a friend.

Ah, yes, the clever little details!
