Apple Offers Up a Nice Dose of Alfred Hitchcock in New Ad Film on Privacy

To achieve the rich cinematic look of the Ivan Zacharias-directed film, the digital footage was printed on film stock.

Apple has released a new campaign pitching privacy on iPhone, focusing on Safari. Part of the campaign includes a 1:48 spot called “Flock” that is reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock’s all-time classic, The Birds.

The film, from Director Ivan Zacharias and Academy Award-winning editor Mikkel E. G. Nielsen, portrays the horrors of online data surveillance as a spy-like thriller, with a nightmarish crescendo.

Also on the project was award winning Sound Designer, Gus Coven, who visited junkyards throughout the city searching for different metallic sounds to bring the movement of the birds to life, including \high frequency squeaks for our bats’ wings and even a slight “hoot” for the turn of our owl’s head.
