Aldi has released its Christmas ad for 2022 with a throwback to the classic Home Alone, which sees Kevin the carrot left behind on the family trip. It’s a fun piece of ad work with some very un-Christmas-like moments that have gotten people talking.
At one point in the ad, while trying to escape an intruder, Kevin becomes embedded in a snowman in a place where he resembles a penis – compounded with his slide down the rope dangling from what looks like two testicles. It’s already created a buzz of criticism in the UK.
However, others rushed to defend the supermarket, reports the Birmingham Mail, suggesting most children will not understand the reference. One reply read: “It’s a harmless joke.” Another said: “It’s a little bit of dark humour for those old enough to understand and those who aren’t, it will bypass”.
‘Tis the season to be jolly.
Does the Aldi Christmas ad feature a snowman with a carrot penis or is it just me?

“Christmas celebrates the joy of being with loved ones and this year more than ever we all need a bit of light entertainment as we celebrate the season together,” said Adam Zavalis, marketing director at Aldi UK.
“And it wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens, and this year’s Yuletide performance is sure to get the nation shouting ‘Kevin!’ as we welcome him back for the seventh year.”
